It’s not even earning the best reviews of the week, as Eighth Grade takes that title.
Speaking of limited releases, Eighth Grade could have the best opening for any limited release of the year. Its weekend opening is expected to be close to $240,000 in just four theaters, putting it in a virtual tie with Isle of Dogs for highest opening weekend theater average of 2018.

Eighth Grade expanded into just over 1,000 theaters and that helped it get to $6 million over the weekend. Its theater average is low enough that it likely won’t expand significantly beyond this point, but getting to $10 million still seems very likely.
