Camille (Rachelle Vinberg), an introverted teenage skateboarder from Long Island, meets and befriends an all-girl, New York City-based skateboarding crew called Skate Kitchen. She falls in with the in-crowd, has a falling-out with her mother, and falls for a mysterious skateboarder guy, but a relationship with him proves to be trickier to navigate than a kickflip.
This film features non-professional actors, but this allows for performances that feel more real. This is the first narrative film from the co-writer / director, Crystal Moselle, who previously found success with the documentary, The Wolfpack. Hopefully this will help this film find an audience, as it deserves to be seen.
MPAA Rating: R for drug use and language throughout, strong sexual content, and some nudity – all involving teens.
