A mute man is on a journey to the land of Toraja, where the Manene ritual, famously known to have the dead to walk, is his only hope for being cured and able to speak. But at one stop of his journey, he misses his bus and all his belongings, forcing him to helplessly wander around in a village market. Yunus, a mosque caretaker comes and takes the mute man to stay at his mosque. Over time, the mute man gets friendly with one of the mosque's taklim member, Nila, who symphatize the mute man's determination to go to Toraja to be cured. Her sympathy leads the mute man to fall in love. But in the end, sympathy is not the same as love, and being heartbroken is what eventually takes the mute man to speak.
